Earlier today, we've been informed by Łukasz Zemczak of Canonical about the latest work done by the Ubuntu Touch developers in preparation for the upcoming OTA-9 software update for all supported Ubuntu Phone devices.

According to Mr. Zemczak, the day of January 14 was not quite exciting for landings, as the Ubuntu Touch devs only managed to release a new version of the powered daemon, which promises to fix the annoying issue where that phone's screen remained black after rejecting an outgoing call, as well as a new dbus-cpp version that fixes D-Bus bugs.

Moreover, the indicator-sound component was updated as well, and the development team managed to address the issue with displaying and hiding of the high-volume warning. Also, a trust-store translation template update was pushed as well to the OTA-9 development channels.

"With the final freeze being really close, we would once again like to ask all translators to submit latest translations for their languages as soon as possible. We will be requesting a final manual langpack export later tomorrow (Friday)," said Łukasz Zemczak, Ubuntu Foundations.

New custom tarballs now available for BQ Aquaris and Meizu MX4

Besides all the landings mentioned above, the Ubuntu Touch team managed to publish, as promised in yesterday's report, new custom tarballs for the English channels of the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition, BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition, and BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition phones, with the Chinese version of Meizu MX4 in standby.

Finally, at the end of the report, Mr. Zemczak urges all those involved in the Ubuntu Touch development to take a look at the remaining regressions in the rc-proposed channel and attempt to fix them as soon as possible before the release candidate images become ready for release. Tomorrow you will have more details about Ubuntu Touch OTA-9.
