We have just been informed by Mr. Łukasz Zemczak of Canonical about the latest and hottest news that happened in the Ubuntu Touch world during the day of January 11, 2016.

According to Mr. Zemczak, this is the last week when the upcoming OTA-9 software update for Ubuntu Phone devices gets new features, improvements and bugfixes, as it will enter final freeze this Friday, on January 15, when the first Release Candidate image will be built and sent to QA for testing.

"Final week for OTA-9 landings! This Friday is final freeze, after which we will build the first candidate image and send it to QA for testing. Be sure to get everything that's needed released in the overlay before end-of-week," said Łukasz Zemczak, Ubuntu Foundations.

Unfortunately, being the first day of the week, today has seen only minor landing for the forthcoming Ubuntu Touch OTA-9 software update, but we would like to inform our Ubuntu Phone users about some of the landings introduced late on Friday. Among these, we can mention new versions of the Web Browser and Media Player apps.
