As Łukasz Zemczak is currently in a two-week holiday, Canonical's Timo Jyrinki sent the usual report to inform us all about the good and bad things that happened in the Ubuntu Touch world.

According to Mr. Jyrinki, it would appear that the Ubuntu Touch OTA-6 software update has been received well by Ubuntu Phone users, including those with BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition devices.

As reported by Softpedia, Canonical finally managed to seed the Ubuntu Touch OTA-6 update to BQ Aquaris E4.5 and BQ Aquaris E5 HD devices on Thursday, after a one-week wait.

Users of Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition devices were the luckiest ones to get the OTA-6 software update for Canonical's Ubuntu Touch operating system at the beginning of last week, along with owners of Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 devices.

"I'm very happy about the WiFi hotspot feature, which was the last "must have" feature I had on my own list. Also the thumbnailer + cache improvements keep the overall experience climbing towards perfect smoothness," says Timo Jyrinki.

OTA-7 coming in a little over a month

Now that OTA-6 has been shipped to all supported devices, the time has come for Ubuntu Touch developers to concentrate their efforts on the next major update, OTA-7, for which they've already managed to fix 20 bugs.

A fix for an issue with the Today Scope displaying only Date and Weather on some Meizu MX4 devices will be implemented in OTA-7, but if the developers manage to reproduce two more issues reported by Meizu MX4 users, there will be an OTA-6.5 hotfix.

Last but not least, we're being informed that the Music, Terminal, Calendar, and Clock core apps received important updates and are now available. As expected, OTA-7 will bring numerous cool features, such as the ability to set custom ringtones for calls, but more on that later.
