Now that the latest update for Ubuntu Touch has a firm launch date, the developers have also released a complete changelog for the upcoming release.

Ubuntu Touch OTA-5 is the new update that will be made available, on July 20, for users with Ubuntu phones. Unlike another OSes, like Android for example, which inform users about changes and improvements after the release is made, Ubuntu makes things a little more different and more transparent. We've known for quite some time what the changes to land in Ubuntu phones next week are, but they were never under the same roof.

Bits and pieces of what the developers were working on have been shared in the past month, and we already know a great deal about the improvements and new features. On the other hand, not everyone reads everything written about Ubuntu Touch, so it never hurts to have all the information in a single place.

Ubuntu Touch OTA-5 is just a few days away

Canonical is now using a phased system, this time for the updates, so everyone will get it at the same time. It's a little bit riskier, and if something goes wrong, a lot of people will be affected. The phased updates will be back in time for OTA-6.

According to the changelog, many of the icons in the OS have been updated, full shell rotation has been implemented (landscape mode), new keyboard layouts have been added, keyword tagging support added to News, Photos and Today scopes, refunds for the Store have been added, Bookmark folders have been implemented, Call Forwarding has been improved, the MX4 LED pulses when there is a notification, In-line contact editing in Dialer and Messaging apps has been added, GPS location tagging has been added to Camera, and much more.
