Tomb Raider is the reboot of the franchise that was released back in 2013. It was developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, and from the looks of it, a Linux version might be in the works.

A lot of games have been getting Linux ports lately, and it's now time for Tomb Raider to also land on Steam for Linux. It would have looked like a bit of a stretch a couple of years ago, but there are plenty of triple A titles available for Linux users now, and porting games is becoming mainstream.

Tomb Raider was a breath of fresh air for Crystal Dynamics, which released a couple of not great titles before this one. It's likely that the future of the Tomb Raider franchise depended on it, but the developer managed to provide players with an exquisite experience. A newer one named Rise of the Tomb Raider is already out for Xbox One and PC users.

Tomb Raider for Linux is a possibility for now

Details about Linux builds for Tomb Raider have been spotted in the Steam database, which often happens before their launch. Since Tomb Raider is already available to be played by Mac OS X users, a Linux port doesn't seem all that unlikely.

The studio that made Tomb Raider available for Mac OS X is Feral Interactive, and they have already done some amazing work with a few other titles.

Of course, if Tomb Raider makes it to Linux, it will probably be in the form of the GOTY Edition, which incorporates all the DLCs that have been released for this title. Truth be told, there aren't any interesting DLCs anyway for this game, with the exception of a few optional tombs.

The information about the Linux version is taken from the Steam database and by no means is it completely certain. The database is a record of data that describes every Steam game and subscription provided by Valve for the Steam service.
