Report claims Tom Cruise will ditch the cult to be a proper dad to his daughter with ex Katie Holmes

It’s been a couple of years since Tom Cruise was photographed last in public with his daughter with ex-wife Katie Holmes, Suri Cruise. This has done nothing to help dispel rumors that the Church of Scientology, of which he’s the most high-profile celebrity member, has banned him contact with Katie and Suri, who became “suppressive persons” after the divorce.

The latest print issue of Star magazine takes this older story and claims that this was true from the start, Hollywood Life reports. Scientology banned Tom from seeing Katie or Suri, and it’s breaking his heart. So, he’s thinking of leaving.

Tom is under too much pressure, will be forced to choose

According to well-placed but unnamed source close to the actor, Scientology really did mandate that he cut ties with Holmes, as she was dubbed a SP after the divorce. Whenever someone defects from the cult, they are classified an SP and all the family members still inside will not be allowed to see them anymore.

While Tom may have no interest in seeing Katie, he can’t not see her if he’s visiting to see his daughter. Work is already keeping him away long enough, but with this interdiction, he gets to spend even less time with Suri, the insider notes.

Most contact between the two is via phone or Skype, both poor substitutes for actually being there, especially now that Suri is growing up. One day, they were chatting as usual and she kept telling him how much she loved ballet, and it dawned on him that he had not seen one show of his daughter.

On further consideration, he realized that this has to change.

Forced to choose, he will not choose Scientology

The report notes that Tom has been feeling “tremendous pressure” from Scientology to act a certain way, but at the same time, he’s torn by regret that he’s missing out on the most important moments in Suri’s life.

Scientology won’t reconsider its stance on mingling with people from outside the church, even if they’re family members, so in the end, Tom will be forced to choose.

“He’s between a rock and a hard place, but he’s finally making a choice to put his daughter first. Tom has missed birthdays, school events, all the special parts of childhood that happen so fast and are gone before you know it. Suri is not a baby anymore; she is fully aware that her father isn’t around much. When she speaks to him on the phone, it’s becoming more and more like she’s talking to a stranger,” the spy is quoted as saying.

As you can see from the photo attached, the cover of this week’s issue of Star, Scientology is allegedly putting up a fight to keep him from leaving. After all, he is their biggest celebrity member and they would probably not survive for much longer if he one day decided he wanted out.
