Video game developer 11 bit Studios is announcing that it is working on a new project called This War of Mine: The Little Ones, which is an updated take on its very good survival title which is designed to be launched on the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft on January 29, 2016.

The title will have all the core mechanics of the PC experience, but it adds the perspective of a child to the mix and that means that a lot more emotion will be featured in the experience, as seen in the very effective announcement trailer.

Gamers who get This War of Mine: The Little Ones will need to control a group of survivors, both adults and children, who are forced to try and survive any way they can in a city that's besieged by the army.

Food, shelter and water will be very important initially because the characters cannot exist without them, but because kids are involved, emotional nurturing can become just as important, which makes toys and games more significant than in the core version of the game.

11 bit Studios states, "During the night maybe you’ll maybe find some parts that can be used to fix a toy, which children can then play with during the day – kids still need entertainment after all. But kids also sometimes need to talk to someone and feel safe, so don’t forget that as well."

This War of Mine: The Little Ones has a Large Mansion on the PlayStation 4

The game will also feature children drawing and writing on the walls of the shelter in which they live and other behaviors that capture the innocence of those who might not fully comprehend the threat of war.

For the PS4 version of This War of Mine: The Little Ones, the developers are offering a new shelter called the Large Mansion.

The core gameplay of the game will remain pretty much unchanged, with gamers able to take care of basic tasks like cooking and building during the day.

The night is reserved for scavenging expeditions that are fraught with danger but allow survivors to get access to resources that they need or to trade with others in the besieged city.
