14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft announced its HoloLens device with much fanfare earlier this year, and the company is now looking to fund universities interested in developing solutions that would work with it, but at the same time, third-parties are also trying to explore its potential with augmented reality apps.
HoloLens was designed as an entertainment device that can completely change gaming, living room, and the working space, and now a company called Object Theory is looking to create apps that would use the technology behind the project for “bringing your holographic vision to life,” as it’s mentioned on the official website.
HoloLens indeed makes holograms part of our lives, and Object Theory is looking to support companies that are willing to develop augmented reality apps for the device with the necessary know-how and support needed from inception to the very end of the development process.
“We are uniquely positioned to help organizations design, develop, and launch mixed reality applications for Microsoft HoloLens. Our leadership team has already delivered projects for Microsoft HoloLens and other mobile platforms. We work with clients, from inception through launch and beyond, including software development, user experience, design, quality assurance, training, deployment, maintenance, and support,” Object Theory says.
$500,000 in grants for universities
Microsoft has also announced that it’s offering up to $100,000 in grants to five universities looking to develop HoloLens solutions involving data visualization, evolution of pedagogy in STEM, medical, and design education, future of communication, interactive art and experimental media, psychology-related topics, and solving difficult problems.
Universities winning the competition will also get two Microsoft HoloLens development kits to continue their researches. All projects must be ready by October 9, the company says.
