The final chapter will be up on Kickstarter in a few months

The Journey Down is a series of point-and-click adventure games developed by a studio named SkyGoblin. The original plan was to have three chapters for this game, but it looks like SkyGoblin will need your help to make the third chapter a reality.

The two chapters that have already been released for The Journey Down have been very well received by the community, even if SkyGoblin took its time between releases. The makers of these games are using hand-painted background and animated characters, which takes a long time to polish, but the result is a product of a quality that is very hard to surpass. There are very few adventure games out there that even come close to The Journey Down, and it would be a shame if the developers weren't be able to make the third chapter and close the storyline.

The first game in the series was released all the way back in January 2013 and the second chapter in August 2014. Both chapters had native Linux support, and the games performed beautifully. We have reviews for both of them and they were a joy to play.

The Journey Down: Chapter Three needs your help

Sometimes it's not enough for a game to be good to sell, and that happened with The Journey Down. Despite the fact that it's an amazing point-and-click game, it didn't get the traction it needed, and now SkyGoblin needs to go to Kickstarter in order to find the funding it needs.

"Though Chapter Two of TJD got glowing reviews, it has been difficult to truly reach out with it to media and players. Maybe because people have a hard time dedicating themselves to a game when they know the series is incomplete, or maybe simply because our PR effort on the chapter two launch was lacking. We did pretty good financially the first year or so after release, but since, revenue has been dwindling and now it’s pretty clear that without seeking additional funding, we won’t be able to make the final episode nearly as grand as we had wanted. Hence, kickstarter!" Theodor Waern from SkyGoblin wrote to us.

The plan is to start the Kickstarter in October, and with a little luck we might get to play the last chapter in 2016. They are saying the story, script and puzzle design are pretty much done, which means that only the artwork needs to be complete. We'll come back in October with the details about their Kickstarter project.
