BQ, the Spanish brand of smartphones, tablets, and electronic readers, has announced today, March 23, 2016, on their Twitter account that the BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition tablet will be available for pre-order next week, March 28.

At the end of February, during the MWC 2016, Canonical had the forthcoming Ubuntu tablet on display at their huge booth, and those who attended the Mobile World Congress event this year had that great pleasure of seeing it in action, along with the Ubuntu convergence.

We also reported last week that Canonical, the company behind the popular Ubuntu Linux operating system, bragged on social media that their first-ever Ubuntu tablet device, the BQ Aquaris M10, would be available soon, but now it's official: you can pre-order the tablet from BQ's online store starting Monday, March 28, 2016.

Unfortunately, the most important piece of information is still missing, and that is the price of the tablet. So right now we can only assume that it will have the same price tag as the Android version, €259,90 ($290.90). Anyway, price and shipping information will be available on March 28.

BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition technical specifications

We already told you last month everything there was to know about the BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition tablet, but we'll summarize here its technical specifications again. The Ubuntu tablet will boast a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a MediaTek Quad-core MT8163A 1.5GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, MicroSD slot up to 64GB, and an 8 MP camera with dual flash, autofocus, and Full HD (1080p) video recording.

The tablet has a big 7,280mAh Li-Po battery that should keep it operative for several hours. Canonical's latest Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system with the next-gen Unity 8 interface will provide for a richer experience, especially that it comes bundled with the Ubuntu convergence technology that lets users transform it into a full-fledged desktop by connecting a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
