Chinese company hints at April launch for the new device

More rumors are pointing at a possible 4-inch iPhone coming in early 2016, as a recent presentation held by China Mobile revealed that such a device could see daylight in April.

While we should still take this with a pinch of salt given the CIA-like secrecy that Apple has become famous for, information posted by MyDrivers and pointing at a slide shown during the presentation claims that the iPhone 6c (also referred to as the iPhone 7c in some cases – although this moniker is very unlikely given the fact the device is expected to share a lot of parts with the current lineup) is ready for production.

China Mobile’s slide seems to align with previous reports that Apple might be planning an early 2016 reveal of the new iPhone 6c, with sources close to the matter indicating that the company will be holding a press event in March for the unveiling of the new device and the Apple Watch 2.

The iPhone 6c, which is expected to be a direct successor to the 5c, will also be Apple’s new attempt at the more affordable market, and pundits claim that the Cupertino-based firm is looking at a price ranging between $400 and $500, depending on the models you choose.

The iPhone 6c could be made of metal and feature the same premium look as the other iPhones, but in order to keep the price down Apple could remove more expensive features, such as the 3D Touch, exclusively available on the iPhone 6s and the 6s Plus.

And yet, the iPhone 6c could still come with Apple Pay support in order to boost adoption of this feature in the United States.

There are a lot of rumors swirling around the web at this point, so take everything with a pinch of salt until a confirmation is provided by Apple itself (although that’s very unlikely to be provided given Apple’s strategy of keeping details secret until the product unveiling).
