14 DAY TRIAL // Telegram, one of the instant messenger services that are becoming increasingly popular among smartphone users, has just received a major update that brings a handful of new features and improvements.
First of all, the update is available for download on all three major platforms: Android, iOS and Windows Phone. However, they might not be pushed to all apps stores at the same time.
The first important new feature included in this update is Admins. Developers have added a new setting that will allow Telegram users to become admins and choose how their groups will operate.
By default, all members are still in control, but when you want more order, you will be able to appoint additional administrators to your group.
Also, when the new restricted mode is enabled, only administrators will be able to add new people and change the name and photo of a group. Obviously, admins will also have the ability to remove other members from the group.
Next in line is a new feature called Supergroups, which will allow users to add more than 200 members to a group.
So, if your group is full, after updating to the latest version of Telegram, you will be able to upgrade it to a supergroup that supports up to 1,000 members.
According to developers, these supergroups are optimized to host large online communities and will load quickly, even if you miss many messages while away.
No bonus features for Windows Phone users
There are two more new features included in this update, one for iOS users, and another one for Android users.
iOS users will get a new in-app notifications feature where you can pull down on a notification to expand it, view the full text of the message or preview attached media. You can even send a quick reply or a sticker without having to leave a conversation.
Also, a new Quick Share for Channels feature for Android users has been implemented too. Simply tap on the forwarding buttons right next to channel settings to access sharing menu.
