Tyra Banks continues to be an inspiration for the millions of women who watch her new show, The FabLife, which also features model Chrissy Teigen as co-host. On the latest episode, the two, together with two other women, dared to bare their faces on camera.

In the world of television, and even in our everyday reality, it’s rare that you get to see a woman who’s not wearing any makeup at all. Tyra and Chrissy did this to show that not even models wake up like this, as a famous Beyonce song says.

Makeup-free but still beautiful

In recent years, because of the rise in popularity of makeup tutorials, the debate on whether applying makeup is lying on part of the women has also picked up. Today, thanks to celebrities like Kim Kardashian, heavier makeup has become the norm even for daily outings, with techniques like contouring and strobing being developed to create that perfect “airbrushed” look.

What this boils down to is that women are using more makeup products than ever, to the point where some might not even look like the same person if you see them without their war paint on.

Some men (and even women) believe that constitutes cheating.

Tyra and Chrissy are here to tell them that it’s not: no one looks flawless when they wake up, and in the end, whether a woman chooses to put on makeup or not is entirely her choice.

To prove that first part, the two removed their makeup on TV, for Tyra’s show, as the video below will confirm. The other 2 ladies are DIY YouTube star Leah Ashley and Lauren Makk.

Tyra Banks, the champion of the regular woman

If you know anything about Tyra, you know that she’s all about keeping it real. It’s been years that she started being more honest with her audience, whether by talking openly about her weight or her fertility issues, or by removing her extensions on-air.

She’s also been very candid on the topic of makeup, even crediting it once for helping her get her modeling career.

“Without makeup, I would have never been a supermodel,” she once said. “I don’t wake up with naturally sculpted cheekbones - I paint them on.”
