The business model seems to be different for Anno 2205

Ubisoft’s Anno 2205 is a big step in the evolution of the franchise, and it’s not exactly what some fans had in mind. Now the developers are also preparing to release two major expansions for the game, named Tundra and Orbit, and a free DLC called Wildwater Bay.

The fans of the Anno franchise are split down the middle with this latest game in the series. Some like it and others don’t, and there doesn't seem to be anyone in between. If you come to think of it, just a few years ago, Anno was about city building and trading, but now it’s gone into space.

Some of the game mechanics have evolved, and not everyone is a fan of the changes, but it looks like the developers usually listen to what the community has to say. In any case, one of the most interesting pieces of news about the project is that Ubisoft is preparing two expansions for the game and one free DLC.

This is at least one of the areas that seem to have been improved. The previous game in the franchise, Anno 2070, had a ton of DLCs, but maybe Ubisoft will steer clear of those and release only major expansions.

Tundra expansion is coming this February

“Tundra, the first of the two expansions, is scheduled for release at the end of February 2016, shortly after Wildwater Bay is released. Wildwater Bay will be available in January 2016 and will add a new temperate Earth session to the game. This will mark the biggest session in the game so far, with a large continental area and several islands,” the official announcement from Ubisoft reads.

The developers say that the new expansion will allow players to acquire additional coastal and mountain slots, and a new riddle about abandoned cities will be available.

There is also good news for the PC users, since this is the only platform for Anno 2205. A new patch that focuses on performance and optimization is set to arrive very soon, but a date hasn’t been provided.
