T-Mobile iPhone users are seeing frequent restarts

It seems that iPhone users under T-Mobile are being confronted with an obnoxious problem, as of late. Owners of the said phone have taken to Facebook, Twitter and forums to complain about frequent restarts on their devices running iOS 8.

The issue seems to be limited only to T-Mobile terminals, so the culprit is probably a buggy update that the carrier has pushed onto the devices in “silent mode” meaning without the user actually receiving a notification for it.

The problems are quite recent in nature, as it appears they have started late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning as of this week. The “blue screen of death” doesn’t seem to affect users universally, but those plagued by the issues claim their devices spontaneously restart every 10 to 30 minutes, even when the phone is not in use.

The models that are more likely to see the issue manifest are the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 5s running iOS 8.1 and higher.

Are you one of the affected parties?

T-Mobile has been made aware of the problem and says it is investigating the nature of it. In the meanwhile, if you too are experiencing such woes, the carrier advises to perform a “hard reset” on the iPhone.

This workaround does seem to do good for some users, while others claimed that only a complete “factory reset” eliminated the issue permanently.

Another user claims he was able to rid himself of the “blue screen of death” by disabling Wi-Fi calling.

If this doesn’t help, T-Mobile says you should try and clear old text messages and do a factory reset via iTunes. While some of these solutions might or might now work, we hope T-Mobile will come up with a fix soon enough.

A Reddit user who spoke to T-Mobile support staff says he got the feeling that they suspect memory problems, but that’s just mere speculation at this point.

If you are one of the people affected by the issue, you might want to try and apply some of the solutions we mentioned above until T-Mobile figures out what the problem is here.
