The Snappy Ubuntu Core is now also working on the Dragonboards, which are single-board computers powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon processors are now considered to be the best on the market, so any single board powered by them is not going to be a bad one. There are a few models already available and a new one coming down the line.

By default, the Dragonboards also come with the latest available Android OS, but that's not all that attractive. The Ubuntu developers have made the necessary adjustments and now the latest Snappy Ubuntu Core operating system is also working on this hardware.

Canonical's Snappy Ubuntu Core works on pretty much everything

The Ubuntu developers have made important progress with Snappy Ubuntu Core in the past year or so, and this version of the operating systems from Canonical has been adapted for all kinds of devices.

Snappy Ubuntu Core can run on everything starting from routers, a wide range of IoT devices, and to the most powerful development boards.

"This image now got updated to the latest rootfs. all bits landed in the store now and the image is built from the official store snaps, this means all bits will from now on also auto-update, please flash the latest if you want to benefit from this. the resize code has been completely ripped out for the moment and will come back proper the next days, you can now flash to SD cards bigger than 4GB," Ubuntu developer Oliver Grawert explained.

The Snappy Ubuntu Core images are for DragonBoard 410c and they will be made available shortly.

DragonBoard 410c features a Quad-core ARM Cortex A53 processor with both 32-bit and 64-bit support, 1GB LPDDR3 533MHz, up Qualcomm Adreno 306 GPU, and all the connectivity features you can imagine, along with Qualcomm's IZat location technology Gen8C.
