Apple launched the 4-inch iPhone SE this week in an attempt to upgrade users sticking with old devices to new hardware and software, but it goes without saying that coming up with smaller models when everyone is heading in the opposite direction made many people skeptical about Cupertino’s strategy.
The iPhone SE has thus become the target of Internet memes, jokes, and ironic remarks, although it’s clearly too early to tell whether this model will be successful or not. First of all, it’s the name of the device.
The SE, which Apple says stands for “special edition” (a reference to the design borrowed from the iPhone 5), put everyone’s imagination to work. What we got were several more humorous versions: iPhone Super Expensive, iPhone Second (Hand) Edition, iPhone Still Expensive, iPhone Sorry Everyone, Small Edition, Small Hands Edition, Sad Edition, Surrender Everyone, iPhone Sony Ericsson, and iPhone Sheep Edition.
Then, it’s the size of the screen. It was just a matter of time until someone said that this was the right device for Donald Trump’s “small hands.”
I think its so unfair that Donald Trump got his hands on the iPhone SE before the rest of us... #AppleEvent pic.twitter.com/hmGysH5FP4 — Philip DeFranco (@PhillyD) March 21, 2016And then, Donald Trump’s reaction to finally getting an iPhone that perfectly fits his small hands:

This is truly is a historic day, a man pulled something out that was 4 inches and it created immense excitement. #AppleEvent — Darion G (@RaptorJesuss) March 21, 2016

The #iPhoneSE is like your ex that you dumped for a new one that came back better and stronger but you don't love anymore. 🙄🙄🙄 — Elpee ▲bias (@elpeeabias) March 22, 2016
Finally... a phone that's no longer the biggest thing in my pants... #iPhoneSE #AppleKeynote pic.twitter.com/xdOHKeNc0S — Christopher Peak (@thisischrispeak) March 21, 2016
#iPhoneSE is like Beetle or Mini Cooper in India, small in size but quite expensive to afford. — Professor (@BeerOholic) March 23, 2016The iPhone SE is pretty much the old iPhone 5 with new hardware, so the Internet was quick to notice this and make fun of Apple of "reinventing" the iPhone.

Apple is so committed to recycling that they're recycling the iPhone 5 design. 🔥🔥🔥 — Austin Evans (@austinnotduncan) March 21, 2016

We'll end with Jimmy Kimmel's own take on the iPhone SE:
