A number of other features have been added as well

Powerful video editor Shotcut has been updated again by its developers, and they’ve made some huge improvements to the application. To be fair, pretty much any update for Shotcut is impressive, but this one is an important one.

Users might not know too many things about Shotcut because it is a relatively new application, and only a handful of releases have been made until now. This is also the reason all of the updates released until now have brought so much new stuff; there is still a lot to implement.

The version number of the application might indicate otherwise, but it's just marking the month and the year of that particular release. For the most part, the developers have pushed a new ShotCut version each month, and that hasn't changed the version number too much.

Shotcut gets better 4K support

Shotcut is already a very powerful application, and it was possible to handle and edit 4K video, and that includes the exporting process. It wasn't a really simple process, but that has changed now.

"Shotcut has been able to do 4K for a while now if you made a custom video mode or correctly use automatic mode. However, there were a few things we wanted to do before making it official. First, you really need to be using a 64-bit build, and we delivered that for Windows in the previous release. For this release, we added 4K video modes to the Settings menu and extended our support for Blackmagic Design 4K SDI & HDMI devices," write the developers.

According to the changelog, five new video filters (Dust, Grain, Projector, Scratches, and Technocolor) have been added, five new audio filters (Bass & Treble, Band Pass, High Pass, Low Pass, and Notch) are now available, Insert Track and Remove Track functions have been implemented, and Composite now defaults to on/enabled for new video tracks.

You can download the latest Shotcut 15.07 from Softpedia, but you might also be able to find it in various repositories.
