HTC’s new intermediate device is coming soon

If we’re to trust what the rumor mill has been whispering for the past few weeks, HTC will be hosting a press event during the same day as Google, on September 29 to be more precise.

The company’s next best thing, the One A9 (or Hima Aero), should make a debut during that day, although we should not expect it to be a high-end phone model but an intermediate device of sorts.

In the last few days, we saw a bunch of blurry images showcasing the A9 and a few press renders revealing the multiple coloring options interested buyers will be able to choose from. We also couldn’t help but notice that HTC has pretty much copied Apple’s iPhone design when it comes to the One A9. Let’s just hope customers won’t have a problem with that.

And today we get another One A9-related leak, which basically confirms that the phone is bound to make an entrance on the market soon enough. The folks at G for Games have spotted the One A9 on Weibo in a live picture that comes to validate most of the details we found out about the specs of the phone so far.

HTC One A9 purported specs

According to the info extracted from the image, the One A9 will indeed come equipped with a Snapdragon 617 chipset on the inside, of the octa-core variety, working in combination with Adreno 405 GPU.

It’s also visible that the phone should arrive with a 5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution (441 ppi), 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. Other rumored specs include a 13MP rear-facing camera, possibly coming with a Sony sensor.

The controversial 4MP Ultrapixel front-facing camera makes a return with this model. The snapper used to serve as a main camera on the HTC One M7 and One M8 but didn’t really prove to satisfy customers’ needs. Still, HTC continues to remain keen on using the technology.

Last but not least, the phone is supported by a 2,150 mAh battery and will be among the first phones to launch with Android 6.0 Marshmallow under the hood, after the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.
