You can still lose its water resistance capabilities

Now that both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge flagship smartphones are in the hands of consumers, some have decided to put them through the most devious tests.

One of the most important tests that every reputed high-end smartphone should pass is the so-called bending test, which was made popular with the launch of Apple's iPhone 6.

Since most of the flagships launched until Q1 2016 have already been tested for bending, it would make perfect sense for the Galaxy S7 to be subjected to the same benchmark.

YouTube channel JerryRigEverything has just posted a video that shows all the gruesome tests that Galaxy S7 edge has been put through over the course of this hardcore benchmark.

The first test that Galaxy S7 edge should pass is the display durability. On a scale from 1 to 9, the Galaxy S7 edge's display scored a 7. But what exactly does this mean?

The person taking the test says that he scratches the phone's display applying a certain pressure on the cutter. The higher the rating the display survives, the harder it is to scratch. Although the first scratching signs show up at 6, it's only at level 7 that the screen seems to be compromised.

Nothing unusual when it comes to screen scratch resistance

Normal glass would usually start to scratch at level 5 of hardiness, but Samsung Galaxy S7 edge's is a bit more resistant. The bottom line is Samsung's flagship is on par with other smartphones that are protected by tempered glass, so nothing unusual here.

The camera on the back side is covered by glass as well, so it's harder to scratch as well. This doesn't apply though to the LED flash and heart rate sensor, which are protected by a plastic covering.

Samsung fans will be happy to learn that Galaxy S7 edge survived the bending test, but there's just one caveat. While bending from the back holds up very well, when the smartphone is flipped around and pressed hard on the screen the back panel lifts up slightly from the frame.

If that happens, you can kiss goodbye all those water resistance capabilities that Samsung is so proud of. Check out the video below to see how the Galaxy S7 edge reacts when it's burned.
