Although we knew that Samsung would not make the Galaxy Note 5 available in Europe at launch, we did not expect the phablet to make its debut in this region for the rest of the year.

Earlier today, Samsung announced that Galaxy Note 5 pre-orders would open in the United States beginning on August 13 and that the smartphone should go on sale in the country from August 21.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will also be available in Asia later this month, but the South Korean company did not share any details about the availability of the device in Europe.

However, in a statement for Engadget, Samsung claims that they have decided not to release the Galaxy Note 5 in Europe, at least not this year.

It sounds like Samsung is more interested in the US market now

“The market availability of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will vary according to consumer needs and the specific market situation. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be introduced in the US and Asian markets in August and we will look at further opportunities to launch the Galaxy Note 5 in other markets,” the company says.

“With the launch of the original Galaxy Note series in 2011, we created a whole new smart device category that set a new industry standard, which all others have followed. For our European customers, Samsung's portfolio will be centred on the Galaxy S6 edge+, so as to better cater to their needs,” it adds.

Basically, while Samsung does not rule out a future launch of the Galaxy Note 5 in Europe, it does not have any plans to make it available in this region in 2015.

Instead, European customers will be given the chance to purchase the newly announced Galaxy S6 edge+, which will be available for pre-order in the UK from August 18 and should go on sale on September 4.
