Ex-Googlers Tom Moss and Mike Chan, co-founders of Nextbit, have just started a Kickstarter campaign for a new smartphone called Robin.

According to Nextbit owners, Robin is the only cloud-first smartphone, as the device “gets smarter every day and makes running out of space history.”

Basically, Robin comes with an integrated cloud OS, which is supposed to offer almost unlimited storage space. In fact, the smartphone has cloud integrated into Android operating system, and its tuned hardware has been optimized to take advantage of this feature.

Apparently, Robin is capable to adapt to the user's storage needs and automatically optimizes the space on the phone when it finds out that you need it.

Moreover, the smartphone learns the apps you use and the space you need, so it can offload the stuff that you don't really use to the cloud.

This means that you will have everything you want in the cloud, but on the phone you will only find what you really need.

“Built on the newest Android OS”

Robin backs up all apps and photos whenever it's connected to Wi-Fi. Nextbit also claims that their smartphone intelligently removes apps and photos you haven't used for a while, when you start running out of space.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone is equipped with a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory and 100GB cloud storage space.

Also, Robin sports a 5.2-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. It packs a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with phase detection autofocus, dual-tone flash and video recording, as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies.

The smartphone is powered by a 2,680 mAh battery and packs dual front-facing stereo speakers, NFC connectivity, fingerprint sensor, quick charging support and LTE.

Early adopters (limited to 1000) can get the Robin for only $300, while the rest will have to pay $350 upfront. According to Nextbit, the smartphone will only ship in certain countries beginning February 2016.

Robin can be ordered via Kickstarter, but there's no guarantee that the smartphone will be delivered even if the campaign is successful.
