Video game developer Harmonix and platform holder Sony are announcing a new deal that is designed to offer 10 extra songs for those who get the coming Rock Band 4 on the PlayStation 4 home console.

The offer is open to those who have the PlayStation Plus service and who place a pre-order for the music experience before it is officially launched.

A special theme is also included in the offer.

The extra PlayStation 4 tracks that are delivered on the PS3 are: All That Remains - Divide, Blitz Kids - Run For Cover, Bring Me The Horizon - Throne, Dead Sara - Mona Lisa, Duran Duran - The Reflex, Janis Joplin - Move Over, Of Mice & Men - Would You Still Be There, Oh Honey - Sugar You, Pantera - Cowboys From Hell (Live from Monsters in Moscow Festival), and Seasick Steve - Summertime Boy.

It's unclear whether the songs will also be offered as separate downloadable content for Rock Band 4 on the PlayStation 4 once the music game is officially launched.

The new extra tracks are interesting, but it is unlikely that they will convince a lot of gamers to place a pre-order.

The move seems part of a bigger strategy from Sony to secure some extra content for big fall releases, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Destiny - The Taken King.

Rock Band 4 might mark a revival for the music game genre

The new title from Harmonix is designed to keep fans as happy as possible, with the development team saying that all the songs that were offered for previous versions of the franchise can be imported and played in the new release.

The old instruments are also still usable, although Mad Catz is delivering a whole new set designed for the new mechanics of Rock Band 4.

The game will include freestyle guitar solos and vocals, which will give gamers more space to express their personality.

At the same time, the drumming section of the game has been improved, and a single-player campaign focused on the rise of one band has been created.

Harmonix is also saying that it has plans for extensive post-launch support for the video game.

Rock Band 4 will be offered on the PS4 and the Xbox One on October 6.
