The development team at Crystal Dynamics, publisher Square Enix, and platform holder Microsoft have already revealed that they are aiming to deliver a Season Pass for the coming Rise of the Tomb Raider, and the three companies are now offering some more details about the Expedition Cards and how they will affect the title.

Noah Hughes, the creative director working on the experience, explains on the Xbox Wire site that the newly added feature is designed to give players a simple way of extending their single-player experience while challenging friends in interesting ways.

Expedition Cards for Rise of the Tomb Raider can be bought using credits earned by exploring the world and completing certain challenges.

Hughes adds, "When used, Expedition Cards become modifiers in game modes outside of the single player campaign.  Some Cards are humorous, such as Big Head Mode, while others can increase the challenge or give you special advantages. Expedition Cards can also be purchased with real-world currency."

Gamers can get a common version, which can be used only once, and foil versions, which tweak the game even more and can be used indefinitely by the player.

300 Expedition Cards will be offered when Rise of the Tomb Raider launches, and Crystal Dynamics aims to deliver more after that, all of them offering gamers the option of challenging other players to perform better using the same setup.

Rise of the Tomb Raider also features a Remnant Resistance Pack

Gamers who get it will be able to use a new outfit for Lara Croft, which is made up of animal skins and ancient Byzantine armor and allows gamers to bandage without using resources.

The Bullet Resistance card in foil version will also be featured, as will the Moon Shadow weapon.

Noah Hughes says the newly revealed Season Pass for Rise of the Tomb Raider will allow gamers to get access to a range of extra content over the four months after the release.

The new game takes the player to Syberia and will challenge Lara Croft to survive both the environment and attacks from human enemies as she seeks to find Kitezh.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will be out on the Xbox One on November 10 in North America and on November 13 in Europe, while gamers on the PC will get it during the first quarter of 2016, and those who own a PlayStation 4 will have to wait until the end of next year.
