The project is now on Kickstarter and it has great success

Remix Mini is now on Kickstarter as the world's first true Android PC and its makers, Jide Technology, just might be the first company that takes an Android OS and makes it run like a proper desktop.

To be fair, there are quite a few distros out there based on Android, so the concept of having an operating system with support for mouse and keyboard work on a regular desktop is not something new. The novelty is the fact that such a solution has finally found its place in a commercial solution, which in this case is the amazing Remix Mini.

The Remix Mini-PC is powered by a 1.2GHz quad core Cortex A53 64-bit solution made by Allwinner, it features either 8GB or 16GB eMMC storage space, 1 or 2 GB of RAM, SD Card, two USB ports, and one Ethernet port. It's also capable of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Normally, you would think that a 1.2GHz processor would not be enough for such a mini-PC, but this is running an operating system based on Android Lollipop, so it doesn't have big requirements.

Remix Mini will arrive in October 2015

Unlike many of the Kickstarter projects, Remix Mini will arrive fairly soon, in October. This means that most of the work has been done and that the OS works as it should. In fact, the Remix OS has been around for some time, so it's not exactly a mystery.

"Powered by our popular Remix OS, Remix Mini allows you to work and play with the entire Android app ecosystem while taking full advantage of intuitive PC features such as a taskbar, multiple window multi-tasking, mouse and keyboard support, and so much more. While everyone else is spending top dollar for the latest hardware specs just to check their email and watch Youtube videos, we realized that there’s SO much more to creating a great PC. Through its carefully engineered optimization of hardware and software, Remix Mini is able to undeniably live up to its motto: less can be more," reads the Kickstarter project.

Make no mistake about it, this is not a powerhouse, but it should be enough for users who just want to surf the web, do some office work, and watch some cute kitties on YouTube. It's the perfect solution if you're traveling or if you just want to use your huge TV at home for other purposes.

Right now, you can buy the Remix Mini with just $30 (€27), but this is the price for the model with less storage space and less memory. Other tiers are available on Kickstarter. The project is scheduled to last for another 30 days.
