14 DAY TRIAL // On October 15, the Red Hat Enterprise Linux team was proud to announce the release of the Beta builds for their open source Red Hat Software Collections 2.1 project, a collection of web development tools, databases, and dynamic languages, and Red Hat Developer Toolset 4, which helps developers to streamline app development on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Among the new features implemented in Red Hat Software Collections 2.1 Beta, we can mention Varnish Cache 4.0.3, an open-source web app accelerator or popularly known as a caching HTTP reverse proxy, the open-source and powerful nginx 1.8 web and reverse proxy server, node.js 0.10.40 event-driven I/O server-side JavaScript environment, and Apache Maven 3.0.5 open-source build manager for Java projects.
"Delivered on a separate lifecycle from Red Hat Enterprise Linux with a more frequent release cadence, Red Hat Software Collections bridges developer agility and production stability by helping to accelerate the creation of modern applications that can then be more confidently deployed into production," reads the announcement.
Highlights of Red Hat Developer Toolset 4 Beta
The Beta release of Red Hat Developer Toolset 4, about which the Red Hat developers note that it's still available as a software collection, comes now with several updated components, among which we can mention GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) 5.2, Binutils 2.25, SystemTap 2.8, GDB (GNU Project Debugger) 7.10, as well as Eclipse Mars 4.5.
Aspiring developers can use Red Hat's Developer Toolset 4 software collection on effortlessly deployed applications that have been compiled only once across the open hybrid cloud on multiple versions of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system. Apps can be deployed on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host, and Red Hat’s Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), OpenShift.
