qBittorrent, a multi-platform BitTorrent client developed in C++/Qt4 by Christophe Dumez that is able to run on all major platforms, is now at version 3.1.10.

A new qBittorrent build has been released by its developers and it might just seem like just another maintenance release, but the truth is that it's quite a large update. Previous releases were not this consistent, but the 3.1.10 version brings a ton of features and other improvements.

The developers have been quiet since the 3.1.9.2 release that was made back in May, but now we know why. If you are using this application, then you really need to upgrade as soon as possible.

What the devs are saying about it

qBittorrent comes with a Torrent-like interface, has multiple search engine integrated, supports all the Bittorrent extensions (DHT, Peer Exchange, Full encryption, Magnet/BitComet URIs, and so on), features remote control through a Web user interface, comes with advanced control over trackers, peers, and torrents, and much more. This is just the tip of the iceberg, as the application is capable of much more.

According to the changelog, a "Completed" column has been added, a "Ratio Limit" column has been added, "Open" and "Open Containing Folder" entries have been added in the content's right-click menu, IPv6 addresses are no longer listened by default, a "Shutdown now" button is now present in shutdown confirmation dialog, a peer port column has been implemented into the PeerListWidget feature, weird ratio values that were show when a torrent was imported or the downloaded history was lost due to crash have been fixed, and "μTP" is now displayed instead of "uTP."

Also, the loaded torrents in the transferlist are now displayed when qBT is launched with a torrent/magnet and the AddNewTorrentDialog is showing, finished and unfinished torrents are no longer mixed when sorting by ETA, numerical values in the transfer list are now aligned properly, the Search Engine tab will no longer be provided by default, a number of plugins have been updated, URLs that redirect to magnet links are now supported, and a spoofed user agent is now sent for the search engines.

Where to get qBittorrent

A complete backlog of changes and updates can be found in the official announcement. You can also check our review of the application, and you can download qBittorrent 3.1.10 right now from Softpedia.

The developers only provide the source package, so you will need to compile this release if you want it right now. It will take a while until it reaches some of the repos out there, like Ubuntu for example. Other OS's, like Arch Linux, will probably get it sooner.
