Quantum Break was supposed to be launched this fall, but the development team at Remedy and publisher Microsoft decided to delay the title to 2016 in order to make sure that the quality of the game matches the expectations of the player base.

Sam Lake, the leader of the studio, says that the extra time for game creation is required because the experience aims to make the most of the hardware of the new Xbox One home console and the prototyping process requires careful handling.

He is quoted by Games Radar as explaining that "On the whole show side, there are a lot of challenges to figure out. It does end up taking time and, yes, we want to keep the quality high, so we don’t want to make certain kinds of compromises, and are always making sure that this is iterated enough and polished enough and it’s as good as it deserves to be."

Microsoft first showed Quantum Break in 2013 and since then the game is rumored to have gone through at least one major revamp.

Remedy says that it wants the game to offer a unique experience that uses cross-media in an entirely new way.

Quantum Break features time manipulation, integrated TV show

Players will take on the role of Jack Joyce, who is able to use a variety of powers linked to the flow of time in order to take out enemies and solve environmental puzzles.

Remedy is splitting Quantum Break into chapters, with each of them followed by an episode of the show based around the same world, which will focus more on the perspective of the villain and will feature some important choices.

Paul Serene can see the future, which means that it is very hard for the player, despite their time-focused powers, to take him out.

Remedy says the new game is designed to offer satisfying gameplay, but the overall narrative will be enhanced by the use of the digital show and the way it allows the studio to offer more details about the game world and about how time affects each character.

Quantum Break is at the moment set to be launched only on the Xbox One on April 5 of next year.
