On Thanksgiving Day, Eike Ziller of Qt writes about the first RC (Release Candidate) version of the upcoming Qt Creator open-source and cross-platform IDE (Integrated Development Environment) designed for the needs of Qt developers.

According to the release announcement, Qt Creator 3.6 RC1 is both a bugfix and a feature release that introduces many interesting improvements, among which we can mention a global option for extra arguments, allowing Qt developers to either enable warnings that are being disabled by Qt Creator by default or disable useless ones.

Additionally, the activation of the Clang code model has been greatly simplified in the first Release Candidate build of Qt Creator 3.6, and numerous annoying issues reported by users since the previous development release have been addressed, including a nasty crash that occurred during code completion.

"We are happy to announce the release of Qt Creator 3.6 RC1," said Eike Ziller. "Since the beta, we have fixed many bugs, including an ugly, evasive crash that could happen on code completion, depending on how you used the mouse while typing function arguments."

Available for GNU/Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X

Among other interesting features implemented in Qt Creator 3.6 RC1, we can mention the addition of text zoom in the compile output, an experimental editor for creating UML-like diagrams, the ability to use Qt Creator variables in snippets, as well as support for building without dependencies in the Project Management.

There's also support for `noexcept` in C++ support, sub-registers are now editable in the debugger, the diagnostics view of the analyzer has been improved, along with the performance of timeline view in the QML Profiler. Download Qt Creator 3.6 RC1 for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows right now from Softpedia, but keep in mind that it's a pre-release version, not ready for production use.
