PlayStation VR, formerly known as Project Morpheus, does not currently have an official launch date or a list of titles that will be offered alongside it, but Sony says that the tech will be a very important tool for developers because it gives them new ways to deliver interesting ideas and mechanics to the player base.

Shuhei Yoshida, who leads the Worldwide Studios, is quoted by GamingBolt as saying that teams will be empowered to use the device to excite gamers in new ways.

He adds, "You can create totally amazing experiences with very, very limited resources if you have the right idea. One of the examples is a soccer game called Headmaster. Its developed by a small indie developer, but everybody still really enjoyed it."

Sony has said that PlayStation VR will launch with about ten titles initially and that the company is working with a range of other teams in order to make sure that other releases arrive all through 2016.

A lot of developers and gamers see virtual reality as the next big revolution in the world of video games because it will allow players to become more immersed than ever into the universes they are exploring.

PlayStation VR will cost as much as a new console

The bad news for all those who are interested in being first adopters for virtual reality is that the price point for all coming solutions seems to be relatively high.

Andrew House of Sony has said that gamers should expect to pay as much as they did for a new modern console, which probably means around 350 dollars or Euro, although that might drop before the 2016 launch date.

For the Oculus Rift, the team has suggested that more than 1,000 dollars or Euro might be required for the device itself and for the extra hardware necessary to make sure that virtual reality runs smoothly.

So far, HTC and Valve, who are collaborating on the Vive, have not mentioned a price point for their VR solution.

All these devices are set to arrive in 2016, and their creators have promised that they will soon offer a closer look at the accompanying experiences and video games.
