Or Target is simply planning to extend a gift card offer

It seems the mainstream store Target might have revealed that Sony is planning to introduce a 50 dollar (45 Euro) price cut for the PlayStation 4 home console relatively soon, posting an ad that suggests the move on its official page.

The move was shown on the section of the site that lists products linked to the Sony platform, but has since been removed and now that section shows a version of the product which includes the coming Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for the price of 349 dollars (289 Euro).

The PlayStation 4 has recently received a price cut in Japan, but no official announcement has been made about something similar for the North American market and, maybe, for the European one.

Target is selling some older bundles that include the PS4 and some popular titles for 349 dollars (289 Euro) with a 50 dollars (45 Euro) gift card that can be used in the same store, and the ad might simply be a sign that the store is preparing to extend the offer to a wider range of titles.

Sony has not commented on the Target offer, and the company has been saying that it has no plans to cut the price of the PlayStation 4 in the coming months.

An announcement might come during the Paris Game Show, where the hardware maker will have a big presence.

Microsoft has been anticipating a price cut for the Sony device for a few weeks.

The PlayStation 4 is leading when it comes to sales

A price cut for the Sony device would be a great way to make sure that the platform remains the best-seller in both the United States and all over the world for the coming holiday season, when both manufacturers are expected to see spikes in their sales.

The Microsoft tactic for the coming period is to introduce a wide range of bundles for the Xbox One, including titles from Rise of the Tomb Raider to Kinect Sports Rivals, while also delivering a big marketing push for the coming Halo 5: Guardians.

Sony has been saying that the PlayStation 4 offers a lot of value for its price at the moment and that even more is being added via free firmware updates, like the recently delivered 3.0.

It will be interesting to see when a potential price cut will be implemented and what impact it will have on the sales of the device.
