Video game hardware maker Sony and Taco Bell are announcing that they are launching a new special Gold bundle version of the PlayStation 4, which is only offered to those living in the United States for a limited period.

Gamers who are interested will have a chance to get access to one of them starting September 24, and the final day of the promotion will be on November 4, with one home console offered every ten minutes to a happy customer, which means that more than 6,000 will be delivered to fans.

To qualify for a new Gold version of the PlayStation 4, gamers will have to get a Big Box product, which will enable them to get a unique code.

The bundle introduces a specially designed version of the Sony current-gen hardware as well as a gold DualShock 4.

Gamers will also get a voucher that gives them one-year access to the PlayStation Plus service and a copy of the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, which features the three core titles that have been launched in the franchise so far.

It's unlikely that the Gold promotion for the PlayStation 4 will be offered in other territories, which is a shame, given that plenty of fans would love to get their hands on one.

Sony is leading the current-generation race

The PlayStation 4 is at the moment selling better than the Xbox One both at a worldwide level and in the United States.

Both Sony and Microsoft are trying to make sure that they have a solid sales plan for the coming months, which involves the crucial Christmas shopping season, in order to try and improve the performance of their devices.

The Gold promotion is a cool idea for the PlayStation 4, but it might be that the coming firmware 3.0 update is more important to the user community in the long run.

The home console will get access to more options when it comes to content sharing via both Twitter and YouTube, and there are also improvements to the community elements of the devices.

It's unlikely that the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One will get a price cut before the end of the year, although both companies have suggested that they will be open to one at some point in early 2016.
