The Linux Mint devs might improve the OS

The Linux Mint developers are polling the Linux community to find out how many people are playing games and what they can do to improve the things on their side.

Some of you might be familiar with the Steam Hardware Survey that's published each month. There are usually two distributions in the top for Linux OSes, Ubuntu and Linux Mint. This means that there are quite a few people out there who prefer to play games on Linux Mint, although that's not all that surprising, given the general popularity of the distro.

"Don’t hesitate to comment to let us know where you get your games from, where you play them, and what reasons (if any) are holding you from playing them in Linux Mint. Also don’t hesitate to share your experience on gaming in the comments section, if you think there’s something we should do to improve things on our side, or even simply to share your experience with other users," write the developers on the official blog.

Lots of gamers who use Linux Mint

More than 4,000 users have already voted in the poll, and it looks like a third of the Linux Mint users don't play any kind of games, but 29% of them play Steam titles, so it's a close race. It's not clear what the Linux Mint developers could do to improve gaming on their side, with the exception of getting newer drivers in their repos. On the other hand, they know their system, and they might be able to make some interesting changes.

Linux Mint is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu that comes with a large number of flavors that include Cinnamon, MATE, KDE, and Xfce. The team also builds a Linux Mint based on Debian, but that's not all that famous. You can download Linux Mint from Softpedia and give it a spin.
