Immediately after announcing the release of Linux Mint 17.3 "Rosa" Xfce Edition, Clement Lefebvre, the leader of the Linux Mint project, published details about Linux Mint 17.3 "Rosa" KDE Edition.

Still using the KDE 4.14 desktop environment, and still based on Canonical's long-term supported Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) operating system, Linux Mint 17.3 "Rosa" KDE Edition is here to improved some of the built-in Mint apps, as well as to update various applications and core components and to fix bugs reported by users since Linux Mint 17.2 "Rafaela" KDE Edition.

"The team is proud to announce the release of Linux Mint 17.3 “Rosa” KDE Edition. Linux Mint 17.3 is a long term support release which will be supported until 2019. It comes with updated software and brings refinements and many new features to make your desktop experience more comfortable to use," says Clement Lefebvre in today's announcement.

Here's what is new in Linux Mint 17.3 "Rosa" KDE Edition

Linux Mint 17.3 "Rosa" KDE Edition does not look like a special release at all, and the changes are very minimal and common to the Xfce, Cinnamon and MATE editions of the Linux Mint 17.3 "Rosa" series. It is powered by Ubuntu 14.04 LTS' Linux 3.19 kernel, and will receive security patches and software updates until the year 2019.

The GNU/Linux distribution comes with the same improvements for the Linux Mint in-house built apps, such as Software Sources, Update Manager, Driver Manager, and MDM (Mint Display Manager) 2.0, offers a slightly redesigned welcome screen, updates the Inxi and LibreOffice 5 apps to their latest versions, and makes hibernation to work  out of the box.

The artwork has been improved with a set of new and beautiful wallpapers, the graphics stack (X.Org and Mesa 3D Graphics Library) was updated, and users can now install Linux kernel 4.2 from the default software repositories. Download Linux Mint 17.3 "Rosa" KDE Edition right now from Softpedia, and remember that you can upgrade from Linux Mint 17, 17.1 or 17.2.
