A new RC version of LibreOffice is out and ready

The Document Foundation has released the third RC (Release Candidate) for the LibreOffice 5.0.0 branch, which is now available for download and testing.

The new LibreOffice 5.0 version is getting all the attention right now, and The Document Foundation has already said that it wants to have an amazing release. From what has been revealed until now, the new LibreOffice 5 will probably be the biggest and most important release, even more consistent that the previous one. In fact, from the looks of it, each new version that arrives is breaking records.

This is a very complex piece of software and it will take more than just a few RCs to finish all the work. The changelog for this release is quite extensive, which means that a lot of work is still left to be done.

Some of the new features that are landing in this new version include Emoji and in-word replacement support, style previews in the Sidebar, better image cropping, word-compatible text highlighting, DOC improvements, better table management, multiple OOXML improvements, image drag and drop, and much more.

According to the changelog, missing paragraph style on footnotes for DOCX document has been fixed, single mouse click selection of elements now works correctly, UI Name box selection now supports arrow keys on Linux, some OpenGL fixes have been implemented, a crash that occurred when emailing documents has been fixed, a crash that happened when exiting the bibliography database has been corrected, and numerous other fixes have been implemented.
