LG G4 dual SIM version is getting updated

If you are the owner of an LG G4, then we have a piece of good news for you. The Korean company is rolling out a new update for its latest flagship product, the G4 or the H818 variant to be more precise, which is the dual SIM variant meant for the Indian market.

The update weighs 328MB and can be downloaded either via OTA or through the LG Bridge computer software (for Windows or OSX).

The changelog reveals that the new build doesn’t bring along any big features, except for some “Usability improvements through Google patch,” “Improved internet applications” and enhanced battery life (as seen at Phone Fizz).

It appears that the “Google patch” part refers to a Stagefright vulnerability fix, but we’re not 100% sure this is the case yet. The most important part is that the update will help you prolong the battery life on your LG G4.

Users in India and other territories can go ahead and manually check the availability of the update by accessing Settings> About Phone > Common > Update Center > Software Update on their G4 handset.

This is a small update, but the next big thing is probably in the making. At this point, we don’t really have any information related to when exactly the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will land on the LG G4.

But one thing is for sure, the flagship will get it at some point. We hope that will happen sooner rather than later, but judging by the fact that LG was one of the first device makers to pick up the Lollipop update, the prospects are pretty good.
