Apple’s upcoming iPhone allegedly shown in this photo

Even though the company has never confirmed it, everyone knows that Apple is working on a 4-inch iPhone, and with the launch expected to take place in March, more information on this project emerges almost on a daily basis.

Not long ago, it was revealed that Apple might call the 4-inch model iPhone 5se, and a photo that has recently been published online claims to show the differences between the new device and the original iPhone 5.

Published by Dutch website OneMoreThing (via 9to5Mac), this photo might very well be fake too, so don’t take anything for granted right now. But if it’s true, it shows that Apple’s going for the same dimensions as for the iPhone 5, albeit it features the same look as the iPhone 6.

Rumor has it that Apple wants to make the iPhone 5se more affordable than the existing models, so it might be positioned as an entry-level version of the device, with pricing to be around $500 (€450).

Possible features

Not much is known at this point, but expect premium features to be missing from the device, including 3D Touch, which will continue to be exclusively available on the more expensive iPhone models.

On the other hand, as you can see in this photo too, iPhone 5se will keep Touch ID for fingerprint authentication and will definitely come with NFC support to encourage Apple Pay adoption in the United States. A cheaper iPhone that could sell in high numbers has more chances to boost Apple Pay services usage in the country, so Cupertino is betting big on this model.

The launch of the device is likely to take place in March, alongside a new iPad mini model, plus an update for the Apple Watch. This won’t be the second-generation Watch, though, sources say, but Apple will probably unveil some improvements, including new bands and the 2.2 version of WatchOS.
