Apple’s working on a brand new application for its iOS devices that would help address the common issues experienced by users and try to fix them before bringing them in stores for repairs.

The main purpose of the app is to help iPhone and iPad owners address the problems on their own and keep support services for more complex issues that require advanced knowledge and interaction with professional personnel.

uSwitch has posted a few screenshots with what seems to be the new application that will get customers through a series of basic questions about the devices in question in order to isolate the problem and then assist them as they book a service and give a call to Apple for more help.

Guides will also be available within the app to make sure that chatting with support staff is the last resort, the screenshots reveal, while booking an appointment with an Apple Store Genius will only be possible in your current location.

Other screenshots posted by leaker Sonny Dickson and revealed by the aforementioned source point to more advanced features for the very same app, including the possibility of chatting directly with Apple support from within the app, or even chatting to help workers from your corporate network and thus fixing devices in your organization.

Options to access all devices assigned to an Apple ID will also be offered, and so will links to purchase AppleCare+ and manage connectivity options.

At this point, it’s not yet clear when Apple plans to launch this app, and it’s not known if the company wants to release it as a stand-alone solution or integrate it directly into the store. The latter would make much more sense right now, but on the other hand, it could be more difficult for users to repair common iPhone and iPad issues without a dedicated app.
