Great news for Windows Phone fans in India, as Microsoft is about to launch the Lumia 640 XL LTE mid-range smartphone in the country.

According to a new report from NPU, Microsoft Lumia 640 XL LTE will be officially introduced in India sometime this week. The smartphone should cost around Rs 16,900 outright, which is about $260 or €230.

Customers will be able to choose from three different color versions: Cyan, Black and White. Additional colors might be available at launch, but for the time being these three are the only ones rumored to arrive.

Along with the Lumia 640 XL LTE, Microsoft plans to launch yet another mid-range Windows Phone handset in India, the Lumia 640 LTE. The latter will be released in the country by the end of the month.

More details about the phone's exact release date and pricing options are likely to emerge in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for more on this one.

It fully supports Windows 10 Mobile

Microsoft is expected to unveil its new flagship smartphones, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL on October 6. News about Windows 10 Mobile's release and availability could be shared with the world on the same date.

Customers in India will probably be given the chance to purchase the new Windows 10 Mobile devices later this month or the next, but the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL both belong to the high-end category.

That's why the Lumia 640 XL LTE remains so important for customers in India, especially that the smartphone is fully compatible with Windows 10 Mobile and will probably be among the first devices to receive it as an upgrade.

We will keep an eye out for any additional details on the Lumia 640 XL LTE release in India, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
