Krita 2.9.10 has been released today as part of the Calligra 2.9.10 open-source office suite, for which we will publish a separate article later today, when an official announcement is made available.

The changelog for Krita 2.9.10 is out, and we've attached it at the end of the article for reference. Among the changes, we can mention better support for PSD files created with the Adobe Photoshop software, the addition of a basic storyboard template, along with a new option that lets users log OpenGL calls for debugging purposes.

Krita 2.9.10 introduces another option, which can be used for disabling the vectorization speedup, which was broken for AMD CPUs, properly supports the generation of .ora and .kra thumbnails, and fixes a crash that occurred when attempting to scale down an image with the scaling factor set too close to zero (0).

Furthermore, the application no longer allows users to save 16 bit/channel linear gamma sRGB files if no PNG profile is available, remembers the last-used profile during imports of untagged 16 bit/channel PNG images, and patches a crash that occurred when attempting to use the painting assistants.

Many other issues have been resolved

In addition to the changes mentioned above, Krita 2.9.10 also fixes numerous issues with the import and export filters, which reported the wrong error codes immediately after pressing cancel, addresses a rare crash that occurred during slow operations, as well as an even rarer one that occurred when trying to recalculate the image.

Krita 2.9.10 contains even more bugfixes, such as a patch for a crash that occurred when attempting to switch subwindows immediately after removing a layer, and a fix for a race condition that occurred during advanced operations. Also worth mentioning are patches for a crash that occurred occasionally when working with multiple images, and a crash in the shortcut system.

Last but not least, the memory usage has been greatly improved in Krita 2.9.10, especially when saving images. Moreover, windows are now being correctly restored after using the canvas-only feature, and the small color selector has been made consistent in color layout.
