14 DAY TRIAL // Kdenlive, the free and open-source video editor software for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and FreeBSD operating systems will be updated this spring to version 16.04, a release that promises a set of cool new features.
After working hard for the past few months on all the new features that will be available to users in the upcoming, major Kdenlive 16.04 release, the project's developers have revealed recently the official release date as April 20, 2016.
"We have been working hard over the last 4 months to prepare Kdenlive 16.04, that will be released with KDE Applications around the 20th of April," said one of the Kdenlive developers in the brief announcements published on March 21, 2016.
But, more important, at the moment of writing this article, the Kdenlive 16.04 release has entered the Feature Freeze stage of development, which means that no new features will be added until the final production version gets out on April 20.
Here's what to expect from Kdenlive 16.04
Kdenlive 16.04 promises to be a great release, bringing dozens of new features, such as integration of the audio level meter into the monitor, a new split view for comparing timeline effects with the original video, and a much-improved title, which now supports shadows and gradients.
Additionally, a new Library feature will make its way into the Kdenlive 16.04 software this spring, allowing users to copy and paste sequences between multiple projects. Also, the functionality that lets you increase and decrease the speed of a video file will now affect its audio stream as well.
Lastly, Kdenlive 16.04 will sport a great number of usability and stability improvements, and fixes or workarounds for some of the most annoying issues reported by users since the previous stable release of the software.
