The developers behind the Kdenlive open source and free video editor software, which is being designed for the KDE Plasma desktop environment, have announced the release of Kdenlive 15.12.1.

The fact of the matter is that Kdenlive 15.12.1 was released as part of the KDE Applications 15.12.1 software suite, for which we wrote an article a few couple of days ago, on January 12, 2016. However, the project's developers wanted to share with us some juicy details about what they managed to fix in the new version.

"This version fixes many bugs reported in the 15.12.0 version, all users are encouraged to upgrade to this new version. Among the changes, Kdenlive will now automatically use the Breeze widget style if available when used on a non KDE Desktop. Several timeline corruption issues were also fixed," reads the announcement.

More than 20 issues were fixed in Kdenlive 15.12.1, Kdenlive 16.04.0 coming soon

As pointed out in the release notes, and as you can see from the changelog attached at the end of the article, the Kdenlive 15.12.1 release addresses a little over 20 bugs and annoying issues that have been reported by users or discovered by the Kdenlive developers since the previous version of the software, Kdenlive 15.12.0.

So, if you're curious to know what exactly has been changed in Kdenlive 15.12.1, we strongly recommend that you take a look at the changelog attached below. However, being a stable release, you should update to it as soon as possible by installing the KDE Applications 15.12.1 metapackage in your GNU/Linux distribution.

In the same announcement, the Kdenlive devs announce that the project is very much alive despite the fact that they haven't managed to publish any informative posts lately, as they have been concentrating on the next major version of the software, Kdenlive 16.04.0, which will include a great amount of new and attractive features.
