On January 6, 2016, KDE announced that the upcoming conf.kde.in 2016 conference for KDE developers would take place this spring, between March 5 and 6, in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.

The KDE project wants to continue the success it had with the previous conf.kde.in events, which for the last two years were held in different locations of India. While conf.kde.in 2014 took place at DA-IICT (Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Community Technology) in the land of Gujarat, the conf.kde.in 2015 event was held at Amritapuri in Kerala.

This year, the conf.kde.in 2016 event will take place at the LNM Institute of Information Technology (LNMIIT), which is located on the outskirts of Jaipur, Rajasthan, and offers a gorgeous 100-acre green campus. The KDE developers will meet there for two days, on March 5 and March 6, 2016, to talk about the future of the open source KDE desktop environment for GNU/Linux operating systems.

"conf.kde.in 2016 will promote the spirit of free and open source software (FOSS) and offer ideas to build awareness about FOSS culture at the college level, when most technology students have their first experience with Open Source. The emphasis will be on KDE technology and Qt, the popular cross-platform application framework," reads the announcement.

Presentations can be submitted now

On this occasion, the KDE developers who would like to attend the conf.kde.in 2016 conference in spring are informed that they can now submit a paper to explain the content for a presentation, which should be no longer than 30 minutes. The presentation can be about KDE, Qt or any other FOSS-related project, but please try to keep in mind that the proposal submission period will be closed on February 1, 2016.

Starting with conf.kde.in 2016, the organizers would like to create new environments that are friendly to new KDE users who want to try out one of the most acclaimed open source desktop environments for Linux kernel-based operating systems. The event will also offer hands-on session and demonstrations, as well as dozens of talks about KDE and Qt technologies.
