Many assumed that Donald Trump was joking when he announced his candidacy for President of the United States in the 2016 elections, but as his popularity continues to rise, it’s become clear that this is no laughing matter. Trump isn’t just dead-serious about his campaign, he actually stands a chance at winning.

The thought worries actress Jennifer Lawrence more than you can imagine, as she admits in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly.

If Donald Trump wins, it’s the end

Lawrence and actors Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson are now promoting the final chapter in the “Hunger Games” saga, “Mockingjay Part 2,” which drops in theaters worldwide this November. This week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly will bring an in-depth interview with the three and probably more promo material.

As of the time of writing, EW has released only a teaser for the interview, which strangely focuses on Donald Trump, aka The Donald, as he used to be called before he decided to ditch his job in reality television and real estate, and get into politics.

There’s not much difference between Trump and the character Donald Sutherland plays in “The Hunger Games,” President Snow.

“If Donald Trump becomes president, that will be the end of the world,” Lawrence says. “I genuinely believe that reality television has reached the ultimate place where now even things like this might just be for entertainment. It’s either that or it’s Hillary’s brilliant idea.”

Lawrence is a self-titled diehard reality show fan, but not even she can believe that Trump’s candidacy is for entertainment: entertainment and politics should never mix.

The PC factor

In the same interview, the Oscar-winning actress tries to explain why even having Trump running for President makes no sense. She recalls hearing someone praise Trump for having the guts to say on camera things he would say too if it weren’t for Americans’ obsession to always be politically correct.

She recalls thinking, “You are absolutely right. That’s who I want representing my country, somebody politically incorrect. That will just be perfect.”

If you’ve been paying attention to Trump’s campaign so far, it’s no secret that the last thing on his mind is to be PC. In statements and interviews, he said offensive things about minorities and women, and made a point of stressing he would not be apologizing for anything.

Perhaps his most controversial and publicized comment was on illegal Mexican immigrants, whom he dubbed rapists, thieves and drug dealers. If he was voted President, he would run them out of the country and “force” Mexico to build a wall at the border, with a “big fat beautiful door” through which only legal immigrants could pass.
