The new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus both launched a couple of months ago, but Apple is already looking at the next-generation phone, with some people close to the matter now sharing a few more details about what’s to come for iFans across the world.

Apple analyst and watcher Ming-Chi Kuo has said in a research note submitted to KGI Securities and obtained by AppleInsider that the iPhone 7 Plus, which will be the bigger model part of the revamped iPhone lineup, will include hardware upgrades supposed to make it even faster than the current versions.

While this is obviously something to be expected, the analyst claims that Apple has already decided to go for 3 GB of RAM coupled with a completely new chip that’s currently being referred to as A10.

Again, nothing too surprising here, given the fact that Apple has used a new chip for every new generation, but it’s confirmation that the Cupertino-based company is working to bring the upcoming iPhone closer to its rivals in terms of hardware specs.

To launch in September 2016

There will also be some changes in terms of design, the analyst predicts, as Apple is currently working to make the iPhone 7 the thinnest it has ever created. The upcoming model could be only 6 mm thin, which is quite a big difference when put against the iPhone 6s Plus, which measures 7.3 mm.

The next-generation iPhones, which will include both the standard and the bigger models, are projected to debut in September 2016, which means that Apple is very committed to its habit of bringing new versions to the market on the same month every year.

Keep in mind, however, that these specs and the release date are still in the rumor stage for the time being, so take them with a healthy pinch of salt until confirmation arrives. This won’t happen anytime soon, given Apple’s reticent approach to new models, so we’ll have to wait many more months until leaks finally start reaching the web.
