Apple still obsesses about energy consumption improvements

In last night keynote's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus with 3D Touch introduction video, Apple managed to leak the battery capacity for the new iPhone 6s smartphone, contrary to its traditional habit of not disclosing it for any of the previous models.

According to a number of frames spotted by phoneArena in its introduction footage where the back of the battery is shown, the iPhone 6s should come with a 1715 mAh battery while its older counterpart, the iPhone 6, had a 1810 mAh one.

The important thing here is that, according to the "Compare iPhone models" page on Apple's website, the two iPhones will have the same battery life, even though the iPhone 6s comes with 70 percent faster CPU performance and up to 90 percent faster GPU performance.

As shown on Apple's website, the two iPhones come with up to 14-hour talk time and a standby time of 10 days. Furthermore, both devices are capable of playing video content for 11 hours straight and audio for 50 hours at a time.

The real iPhone 6s battery might come with a different capacity

Although the iPhone 6s presentation video displayed the text written on its battery's back, since it was found in an introduction video meant to show off the smartphone's capabilities, one must take this information with a grain of salt seeing that there is no guarantee that the phone presented in the video has the exact specs of a real-life working iPhone model.

However, if this leaked info proves to be true, it will only show Apple's constant commitment in decreasing its devices' energy consumption in every way possible.

Regardless of the outcome, a 14-hour talk time is quite an achievement for any 4.7-inch smartphone on the current market.

The iPhone 6s was announced during last night's Apple keynote and it sports a Retina HD display with 3D Touch technology, an A9 chipset with an embedded M9 motion coprocessor, and a 12 MP camera capable or recording 4K videos.

It will be available for pre-order at 12:01 a.m. PDT, September 12, and will be available in three models, a $649 one with 16 GB of storage, a $749 with 64 GB and a 128 GB model at $849.
