Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6s in early September

You have probably heard that Apple has announced the press that it will host an event on September 9, 2015, during which we’re going to see the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus launch into the wild.

The new iPhone is expected to bring a few upgrades to the table and some of the most noticeable ones are going to be in the camera department. Ever since the advent of the iPhone 4s back in 2011, iPhones had had 8MP main cameras on board. Well, today, flagship products are boasting cameras jumping about the 20MP threshold, so Apple needs to step up its game this year.

Naturally, not everything is about megapixels when the camera is concerned, and the latest iPhones are pretty capable when it comes to photography. Still, there are some features like 4K video recording missing from the current models. But the September 9 event is going to fix this.

4K video recording coming to the iPhone this year

According to 9to5Mac, we can be pretty sure that the main camera inside the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus is going to be of the 12MP variety and will support 4K video recording. The two phones are by no means the first able to do so, but Apple will make sure it highlights this feature in its presentation.

Not only will the rear camera receive a makeover with the new models, but the selfie shooter will be upgraded too, although the source doesn’t specify the exact megapixel count. However, we are told that the camera will have a flash (not traditional LED flash). Apparently, the display will act as the front-facing flash: it will light up when users attempt to take photos using the front camera.

The publication bringing us this information has a good track record, so we’re inclined to believe these tidbits are accurate. Even so, we’ll just have to wait a few weeks to see if the rumors truly prove to be accurate.

During the September 9 event, Apple might also end up unveiling a 4-inch plastic iPhone 6c (successor to the 2013 iPhone 5c), a new iPad Air, and maybe the iPad mini 4. Are you excited?
