Indian hackers continue their virtual war against Pakistan

Multiple hacking groups from India have carried out coordinated attacks against a large number of Pakistani websites, as revenge for the Mumbai November 26, 2008 terror attacks.

While many have lauded Anonymous' actions against ISIS members after the Paris terror attacks, the group's ideas are not original at all.

Previously, Indian hackers have been defacing Pakistani websites around November 26 on a yearly basis.

The issue at the core of these attacks are the 2008 Mumbai attacks, known as 28/11 in India, when 10 Pakistani members of an Islamic militant organization (Lashkar-e-Taiba) carried out 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks around the city of Mumbai. The attacks lasted for four days.

Each year, to remember the victims of the attacks and the Indian soldiers that fought the terrorists, Indian hackers go on a spree and deface countless Pakistani websites.

At least three different Indian hacking groups participated in the attacks

This year, members of the Kerala Cyber Warriors hacking outfit have defaced 125 Pakistani websites. A full list of successfully defaced targets has been posted on Pastebin, via the hackers' Facebook page.

Prior, the Mallu Cyber Soldiers also attacked official Pakistani government sites while the TIBH (Team India Black Hats) defaced an unknown number of Pakistani websites as well. Some rumors have the total of defaced Pakistani websites at around 200.

Techworm reports that, by the evening of November 26, Pakistani hackers retaliated by hacking the website of the Central Bank of India. Rumors on Twitter said that Pakistani hackers were also to blame for the downtime on the website of an Indian BJP Intellectuals cell.

Softpedia was not able to confirm that the bjpintellectualcell.org website was ever functional prior to this incident. At the time of writing this article, the website of the Central Bank of India is fully operational.
