Last quarter, Apple registered record-breaking sales of more than 74 million units, which translated into the Cupertino tech giant posting more than $18 / €16.62 billion in profit, making for the most profitable quarter in corporate history.

Now that March has come to an end, Apple’s second quarter earnings call is fast approaching us. We’re going to find out how the company performed on April 27, and some analysts believe the Cupertino tech giant is going to post record sales again.

According to Business Insider, which talked to research firm Citi, Apple is going to exceed expectations once again. Analyst Jim Suva says the company will post a record revenue of $56 / €51 billion, $1 / €0.92 billion more than the estimated $55 / €50.77 billion.

Apple continues its exceptional performance in Q2

We’re also told that the number of actual sold units might be 5% higher than what has been anticipated in the financial world. More than that, earnings per share might climb up by 2% compared to what was predicted, despite the robust position of the US dollar.

However, as Suva himself points out, we should be taking these predictions with a grain of salt. He goes on to explain his position: for starters, he says, it’s a widely known fact that the iPad sales have been faltering ever since the iPhone 6 Plus with its 5.5-inch display came into the wild. It’s a classic example of cannibalization of sales, which might have a great impact on revenue.

Moreover, there might be a 6% adjustment of the financial results due to the strong position of the US currency. Last but not least, the fact that Apple Pay availability is only limited to US grounds might also put a toll on this forecast.

Cupertino’s record previous quarter was owed to the fresh advent of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models, but a lot of the revenue for the next quarter probably rests on the same two models.

Apple is currently busy developing new iPhones, which will be revealed at a later date in 2015. The company is expected to roll out not two models but three, including the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone 6c (a successor to the 2013 iPhone 5c).
