14 DAY TRIAL // Another day, another smartphone launch in India, one of the largest markets in the world after China. Indian company iBall recently confirmed its Cobalt Oomph 4.7D will be available for purchase in the coming days.
As expected, this is an affordable Android smartphone that is purely meant to attract customers with a low price tag rather than exclusive or unique features.
The iBall Cobalt Oomph 4.7D should hit shelves in India later this week for only Rs 7,999 ($125 / €115) outright, and customers will be able to choose between multiple color options, including Black-Metallic Gray and White-Gold.
The new budget-friendly smartphone will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box, which isn't surprising considering its price.
It comes with KitKat, but it's upgradeable to Lollipop
However, according to iBall, the Cobalt Oomph 4.7D should be upgradeable to Android 5.0 Lollipop, though a release date for the update hasn't been confirmed by the company. The only details we have is that Lollipop for this smartphone should arrive in the coming months.
Moving on to specs, the iBall Cobalt Oomph 4.7D will be equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, probably provided by MediaTek, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. A microSD card slot will be available for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
On the back, the Cobalt Oomph 4.7D should feature an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there will be a 5-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.
iBall Cobalt Oomph 4.7D has been confirmed to sport a 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. It will also be powered by a 1,850 mAh battery and will offer dual-SIM support along with 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB 2.0.
In other news, iBall is expected to launch two new smartphones in India in the coming days: Andi Uddaan Quadcore and Andi5 Stallion+.
